Back to life...
I came home on Sunday to find that Olivia had roasted a chicken and baked me a cake :)

I felt really quite disoriented after the whole VP experience though, and I ended up staying at home on Monday - I needed that extra day just to acclimatise to real life again.

I got a decent amount of writing done. The laptop really helped open up new possibilities of writing, as I can now write while lying down on my bed - a position I've found quite conducive to writing (relaxing on the sofa being another one). Also a big help was the little Jim MacDonald over my shoulder saying "it's okay to write crap". I think I might be able to accomplish my new "write something every day" goal now.

Sadly, today I really do have to get back to work. I think I'm sort of ready to get back now... we'll see.

Chicken and a cake? Yum!

I'm feeling that it's okay to write crap thing too! I've written several pages since I've been home now, working hard to do that one page a day thing.

If I can do a page a day, I'm going to be very happy in a year :)

You needed permission? Heck, I've been writing crap all along. I mean, what else can one do while learning to write?

Now I have to learn not to weaken my modifiers. I never learned proper grammar terms and have no idea what a modifier is. I mean, I do from context, but I play this jazz by ear, bro.

Turning off my inner editor has been one of my biggest challenges... I was able to do it before only when I stepped away from the computer and wrote by hand - but then I often end up not just with crap, but incoherent crap.

Now I've found that I'm finally able to do it, without constantly second-guessing myself, at the computer. Something just clicked somewhere :)

Are you going to send your stuff to the gmail? I would like to read it.

My inner editor is what slows me down, I guess, as I am definitely not a quick writer. I think 500 words a day is awesome, for instance. I'm so glad your inner editor has been denied constant override status!

I promised Cal I'd post the unrevised version of The Title Everyone Hates so she can enjoy watching me get better. :) So yeah, I'll send the revised stuff as well, once I get around to revising. Or did you mean something else?

Sent mine off, and we're starting to collect at the VPX private room. :) Drop me a note if I've missed anyone, or if you register and need to be added to the list. Or if you need a map to find the place. Or, yanno, just cuz ya miss me. *grin*
